Screedflo Speeds Delivery

15 December 2008

The latest phase of the Riverside development for Barratt Homes required a total of 500m3 of Screedflo anhydrite screed to be installed in pours of at least 40m3 at a time.

Previously, Progressive Group would have bought their screed from a traditional screed supplier, with their deliveries being by mixer truck. On a large project with multiple deliveries there would be a risk of site delays caused by the delivery trucks getting caught in traffic.

However, once Screedflo Ltd took delivery of their latest mobile batching plant, this problem became a thing of the past. The new vehicle, which is manufactured in Holland, is capable of batching 13m3 an hour, and can be re-filled on site to allow continuous 24 hour batching.

On this particular pour, the vehicle arrived on site at 08.00 along with a binder tanker. Fifteen minutes later the pour started, and batching didn't stop until 43m3 of screed had been batched and poured.

During this time, the sand compartment had been refilled twice using Screedflo's own sand delivery wagon, and the binder tank had been refilled once from the tanker. None of these operations delayed the batching process.

Not only does on-site, computer controlled, batching improve delivery performance, but it also improves the quality of the screed. The computer monitors and controls all aspects of the batching. This has resulted in Screedflo being the only batched Anhydrite screed in the UK to have a CE mark.

Additionally, as the vehicle only mixes the quantity of material needed by the customer, there is no waste, no mess, and the customer only pays for what they use.

Mark Baillie, Managing Director of Screedflo Ltd, said "This new vehicle opens whole new markets to us, as it is specifically designed to undertake larger pours at high speed."
